Wonderful!,
by Skilla5, 2010-09-04
I bought mine 3 weeks ago and have not found any cons. I'm still looking. This machine is a beast!!!!
Now dual boot Win7 & ubuntu 10.04. This machine is just awesome. I thought having 4g of ram would impact -vely
on me burning DVD and playing warcraft frozen throne, watching Avi movie and running a robust application in netbeans.
There was not even a glitch!!!!!
So i will not upgrade to 6G memory.
This machine is great!
pleased with it for the most part,

When I first got the laptop, it crashed on a daily basis due to problems with the NVIDIA drivers. I did some research on the net and found some help from someone called XACTXX on the NVIDIA forum. I don't know if Amazon will allow the link, so I'll copy and paste the solution in case any other purchasers have the same issue:
"The problem lies with the Toshiba Windows 7 theme that comes pre-installed with the laptop, which somehow conflicts with the graphics card. This is why most laptops that get this error are indeed Toshiba ones!
So all you need to do is the following:
1) Right-click on an empty space in your desktop, and click on 'Personalize'.
2) Choose the 'Windows 7 Basic' theme. Make sure you do not choose any of the Aero or Toshiba themes.
3) Click on OK.
You should now not get any more NVIDIA Display Kernel crashes."
And he was correct! I went from sometimes 2 or 3 crashes a day to no crashes in 2 weeks.
My one complaint about this computer is the speakers. The sound (quality and volume) is better than on my Toshiba Satellite, but it keeps going up and down when I'm playing music. Weird. I see that someone else solved the issue with external speakers, but I think for a computer in this price range, having to buy extra speakers to get sound volume that remains constant is rather annoying.
The touch pad also sucks, but I use a wireless mouse, so that doesn't bother me.
Other than those negatives, it's great, fast, and performs well. It's been 3 weeks, and so far so good. (And it's now $200 cheaper than what I paid:-))
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED,

I have been working on and around computers for over 20 years. Even having built a couple of my own last 2 desktops. So while I am not an expert I sure know FAR FAR more than the average guy.
I do have to say up front that Amazon shipping did NOT pack laptop well -- AT ALL. There was precious LITTLE packing material inside the main box to secure the inner computer box itself therein allowing lots of room for the computer box to bang around inside the packing box.
Basically on 3 intermittent occasions the following sequence of events happened:
1). I would press the power on button and NOTHING. ZERO response.
2). I then tapped it several times. NOTHING.
3). Then I pressed the button down, holding it for over 20 seconds. STILL NOTHING.
4). Then I plugged the electric cord in and the red light on the front indicated it was reading the cord and getting electricity. But STILL NOTHING when I tapped the power button!
5). Finally I unplugged the electric cord turned it over removed the entire battery, re-plugged the electric cord and pressed power button again.
THEN IT BOOTS UP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED!
Now if that happened just once -- I'd say fine, it was a glitch. BUT THREE TIMES!!!?? -- No way! I am NOT going through this again. What a pile of garbage. Back it goes tomorrow!!
Please note the battery was fully charged and it appeared to shut down properly each and every time prior to the non working event -- and there were no other USB cords or memory cards, printers etc plugged in.
Sheesh. and now they expect me to pay for shipping?
NOT IF THEY EVER WANT MY BUSINESS AGAIN!!!
It's just perfect.,

What can I say it's probably one of the best notebooks ever made. The i7 cpu is so powerful it can even beat the Xeon cpus you can find in servers. It's fairly priced so I strongly recommend this notebook
AWESOME!!!!,

This laptop is all it says and more. I am able to edit and render video with after effects with no problem. The speakers sound great and the video quality is superb. The only thing I do not like is the scrolling function on the touch pad. Not the best.
