Great Product for Maximizing Laptop Use,

I had a new HP Pavillion i7 based laptop that was much faster than my desktop machines. Since I began to do more remote support, I wnted to make use of this nice fast machine. The docking station fit the bill perfectly. I use a nice 28" monitor and wireless keyboard/mouse (Gyration) and have this machine as my main workstation. Other machines support my RAID storage, backup and other communications support functions.

With this configuration, I can pick up and visit a client site (or sit by the pool) without having to copy files or configure for a road trip.

Saved me the cost of a desktop/workstation upgrade! Talk about RIO, this is it!

As advertised and more!,

This docking unit surpassed my expectations. As mentioned, it has a power button, so once everything is hooked up, you never need to open your notebook. It has plenty of USB connections for wireless keyboard, mouse, printer, etc. Everything worked perfect the first time without software or drivers required. Undocking is just a simple removal of the single connector, and redocking is void of any annoying "side effects" that other docking stations emit.

 

Exactly what I needed,

This item is exactly what I needed. I was tired of disconnecting everything connected to my lap top (printer, external hard drive, mouse)to move my lap top. I had my computer desk set up and every time I wanted to take my lap top to my room, I had to to move my wires and it was just a pain in the rear. Now, all I have to do is unplug this and go. Love it.

There isn't much to say except that this product is exactly what I wanted and expected. Ample amounts of USB ports come in very handy for those, who like me, have multiple peripherals. I would highly recommend.

 

Convenient, but irritating...,

We purchased this unit for my wife's new HP notebook. It works great, and provides all the ports and connections she needs, with the convenience of a single connector to the notebook.

Only one problem; the audio connection is constantly "whining," with static and noise to the external monitor's speakers, and what appears to be matching "noise" on the external display. If I disconnect the external monitor from the dock, and connect it directly to external monitor on the notebook, the problem disappears. Even leaving the external monitor's speakers connected to the external audio port on the dock, the sound clears up as soon as I disconnect the video from the dock.

I contacted HP about the problem, and they said they had not heard this complaint from anyone else. They sent out a replacement unit, but it has exactly the same problem.
