great value for money,
by Volodya, 2010-07-25
i have had this laptop for almost two months now, and i am happy with it. battery life is wonderful - long enough for a transatlantic flight. everything works fast - i was even able to work with a 1.5-gig dataset, and the laptop delivered a satisfactory performance on it. i also did a couple of presentations out of this laptop - connects to the projector very nicely, no problems on this front. like the power adapter - very small, not like that brick that came with my previous dell. in fact, if you have a laptop sleeve with a side pocket, you can put the laptop into sleeve, adapter into pocket, and off you go. but, the battery is so great, on my recent business trip i left the adapter in the hotel room and only took my laptop to the meetings.
i read some people complaining about the wireless adapter. mine has been able to pick up signal quite well. some people complained about the trackpad. i would say - give yourself a couple of weeks, and you will not know how you could have lived without it. once you master the trackpad, you will see it is very user-friendly and efficient. others complained about the keyboard - works fine for me.
the screen is glossy, some people (e.g., my father) do not like it, but i guess it's a matter of taste.
four stars because grey paint started peeling off in a couple of places - does not look ugly or anything, but they could have thought about it.
overall, a great buy. you can take it anywhere, work with it on the road, even on long flights. it is fast, efficient, and it actually does look cool. and for this price, it might as well be among the best buys for someone who needs mobility and performance.

I have owned my Asus for less then a year and have had nothing but problems. My hard drive was bad and had to be replaced in May. I know have another issue with my computer, I believe another bad hard drive and have to send it back in. Their customer serives is bad and they are not helpful at all. Be very careful about investing in this computer, its not worth the hassel of bad hard drives and bad customer service.
Nice computer,

Overall, this is a nice computer. The battery life is not quite 12 hours of use when the use includes being online. The standby battery life is outstanding. It did not seem to loose any life when I left it unplugged for a few days. BTW, it was super easy to set up and start using. Less than 5 minutes.
Worthwhile,

Light, reasonably quick, good keyboard, at least if you use a mouse. Maybe not wonderful for your primary computer, but fine for a backup, to take on trips, etc.
Best laptop ever used!,

I was suggested this laptop by a friend saying it was a good machine, and sure enough, I love it! The battery so far has given me 9 hours of use after being fully charged, of course display settings had to be altered. The chick-let keys are a bonus to easy usage/typing.
